We Have a Variety of Both Cooking and Non-Cooking Housing
There is a wide variety of both cooking and non-cooking cabins. RMBL Administration has ultimate authority to assign housing. To assign housing, RMBL utilizes information from a memo ‘Criteria for prioritizing housing assignments’ that can be found here. The Administration reserves the right to make the best fit between needs and availability. A description about our housing assignment process and other notes on housing can be found here.
Rental fees are calculated from the first day of arrival to the final departure date; individuals will be charged even for days during which they are gone unless they have completely moved out of the building and made prior arrangements with the Director of Finance and Operations. See “Changing Dates” on the Rates & Fees page for the policy on shortening stays.
RMBL does not guarantee that all features of a cabin (e.g., toilet, shower, hot water) are fully functional; cabins are rustic and there will be critters in cabins, such as insects, mice and bats. Reductions in fees will not be granted except under exceptional circumstances, and only by written request to the RMBL Executive Director. The Director shall have final say on whether exceptional circumstances merit a reduction in fees.
Based upon a review of cabin occupancy prompted by Gunnison County, we have decided to eliminate the use of lofts for sleeping in the cabins listed in this Memo, starting with this upcoming 2019 season. Our analysis, which included analyzing the International Building Code as well as accepted best practices for existing and historic structures, included the status of stairs to the loft, the ability to exit from the second story in case of an emergency, and the head space in the loft.
Housing assignments are subject to change at any time based on needs and availability. If arrival/departure dates need to be updated, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The below rates are for the 2019 season.

Camping Spots at Maxfield Meadow
Two designated camping spots are available for use at the Maxfield Meadow – a research meadow about 1 mile south of the field station. This is RMBL’s private land and there are no facilities. We will first look for housing options within the Gothic Townsite. If no room is available in any of the Gothic cabins, we may assign a camping spot at Maxfield Meadow in agreement with the user. Anybody who is assigned a camping spot will need check in with the Administration Office upon arrival to learn of camping guidelines and talk with the Science Director, before their stay so that they understand where current research sites are located. Each camping spot is assigned, marked, the ground may be bumpy and slopy. Setting up camp is allowed only in the assigned and flagged area; the RMBL Administration office will send a map of the area; We have set up a camping toilet to use. This camping toilet will be used by both residents in Maxfield Meadow and instructions will be passed on upon arrival. There is no trash service, so please dispose of trash daily as well as upon departure; Every user will need to check out in the Administration and Accounting Office a few days before departure. Upon departure of the campsite, leave it as you find it, remove all trash, and empty the camping toilet. Please contact the Operations Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org or 970-349-7231 with any questions.
There is no charge, such as a housing fee, other than the daily station fees (see more info under station fees). One parking spot is available adjacent to the camping site. It is marked. This parking spot can be reserved first come first served. Any other residents will need to park in Gothic. Regular parking fees apply; If you are interested in this option, please indicate so in your application.
