Nordic Hut Information
To Reserve Nordic Huts:
We start taking reservations November 1, 2012.
- Check availability on calendars below.
- Call CBNC at 970-349-1707 ext 2 with a credit card handy to reserve the hut.
- Check-in at the CBNC to confirm your reservation and sign waivers, PRIOR to departure.
- Check the CB Avalanche Center’s website for current avalanche conditions.
The huts are a 4-mile, one-way ski on moderate terrain. Depending on snow conditions, avalanche hazards DO exist so you MUST check the avy conditions with the Crested Butte Avalanche Center before departing. Users of the Gothic Huts should NOT ski into or out of Gothic during HIGH or EXTREME conditions.
Check in time is 2 pm. Check out time is 10 am.
Be sure you have received information on the exact location of the hut and be prepared for a variety of winter weather conditions. Bring along adequate equipment and food for your stay. Be prepared to “rough it” in case of emergency. We recommend bringing and knowing how to use avalanche beacons as the route passes several potential avalanche areas.
If you have questions or need assistance, RMBL caretakers live at the Rogers-Boggs and Avery cabins adjacent to the Huts. Since the huts are located at RMBL where numerous research projects lie beneath the snow around the cabins, please respect the following restrictions and rules:
- NO DOGS may accompany hut users. If you bring a dog, you will be sent home by the caretakers.
- Be sure to take all of your trash home with you.
- NO hunting.
- You may ski up valley on the Gothic Road or the Copper Creek trail, but please do not ski anywhere in the Gothic townsite except to and from your cabin.
- Please do not build snowpits or snowcaves.
- NO snowmobiles in the Gothic drainage.
If you need to cancel more than 14 days prior to the beginning of your trip, for any reason besides high/extreme avalanche hazard, you will be refunded the balance less a $5.00/per day cancellation fee. If you need to cancel, for any reason besides high/extreme avalanche hazard, within 14 days of the beginning or your trip there will be no refund, but you will have the option to rebook for free during the same winter season. If you are canceling because the avalanche danger is high or extreme, you will receive a full refund or rebook the hut at no extra cost.
