Adult Science Tours

Adults and children over 12 (with an adult)
Enjoy a beautiful morning outdoors! We invite you to explore the world of field scientists and learn how they use the Elk Mountains to understand our world. You will step into the shoes of scientists to learn about their field research as we explore each week’s topic. Each tour includes moderate hiking as you follow your guide up the winding footpaths of Gothic to research meadows, forests, and streams.

FEE: $40 per person, includes a delicious lunch in the Enders Dining Hall
TIMES: All Thursday tours are from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and meet at the Gothic Store.

Thursday Tours General Information
IMPORTANT ITEMS TO BRING/WEAR:
Small day pack, drinking water, snack, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, warm clothing (it is often cooler in Gothic than in Crested Butte) rainwear, and sturdy footwear. For your comfort; we suggest wearing light colored clothing, long sleeve cotton shirt and pants. Field guides, notebook, camera and binoculars are recommended. Note: No pets are allowed on RMBL property.

WHERE TO MEET: We encourage you to ride the free bus to Gothic! Meet at CB 4-Way bus stop at 8:30 a.m. The bus arrives in Gothic at 9 a.m. The bus departs Gothic at 1 p.m. and arrives back in CB at 1:30 p.m. The bus stops at the Snodgrass Trailhead and Mountaineer Square in Mt. CB. To reach Gothic by car, drive eight miles north of Crested Butte, past the ski area in Mt. Crested Butte. The road is unpaved for the last four miles. This summer please park ONLY along the County Rd. in Gothic. For complete bus schedule please visit here.
