2013 Race Information
Where: The run begins in Gothic, 8.56 miles north of Crested Butte in Colorado.
When: July 4th @ 8:00 a.m.
What: Proceeds benefit RMBL, a private, non-profit scientific research and education institution.
The Course: The course winds through aspen woods and meadows from Gothic through Mt. Crested Butte on a dirt road, past the ski resort, on pavement, ending on Elk Avenue in downtown Crested Butte. Runners will follow the Gothic Road, running on the east side of the road thru MT CB to the Rec path, following the Rec path down the mountain to CB, picking up Gothic Rd in CB, turning south onto 5th and then west onto Elk Avenue. The finish is at 3rd & Elk. There will be four aid stations with water at approximately miles 1, 3, 5, and 7. Water, punch, refreshments and race premiums will be available at the end of the race. Prizes are given to different age groups. Results will be posted on the west side of the old town hall (near the fire station on 3rd street) and on the RMBL website. Pre-registration:
1) Go Green! Register for the race online at Active.com. Registration will open on February 1, 2013 for the 2013 race.
2) Mail form to PO Box 519, Crested Butte, CO 81224, with your entry fee, by 6/28 (postmark deadline 6/25). Click HERE for a registration form..
3) Pre-register in person at the CB Visitors Center on 7/3 and 7/4. No registration will occur in Gothic. Pre-registration fees are $30 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Pick up your bib and timing chip from the Visitor’s Center between 9-5 on July 3rd and between 6-7 am on July 4th. Late Registration: You may register on the day of the race ONLY if the cap of 500 runners has not yet been met. Late registration will take place between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. on the day of the race at the 4-way stop in Crested Butte, at the Visitors’ Center (the intersection of Elk Avenue and 6th Street).
No registration will occur in Gothic. The cost of late registration is $35 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under.
Transportation: Free shuttle buses will depart for Gothic beginning at 6:30 a.m. at the 4-way stop in Crested Butte, adjacent to the Visitors’ Center (the intersection of Elk Avenue and 6th Street). Mt. Crested Butte residents can catch the bus at the Mt. CB town center stop (Mountaineer Square) between 6:45 & 7:25 am. No dogs are allowed on these shuttle buses.
Please do not drive to Gothic the day of the race! There is no parking available for race participants! Please use the shuttle buses!!!!
