Each summer, RMBL has several full-time and part-time staff positions in the kitchen, physical plant, administrative office as well as in environmental education or research related areas.

Executive DirectorThe Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory is searching for an Executive Director.  The position is full-time and requires year-around residency around Crested Butte, Colorado, USA. We seek a leader to develop and execute an actionable vision that leverages long-term research and novel transdisciplinary technology to understand regional ecosystems while actively cultivating and curating annual giving process with potential expansion towards new partnerships including foundations. The successful candidate will understand the unique requirements and opportunities associated with a montane field station, have significant experience managing and supporting internationally recognized, interdisciplinary research, and have a demonstrated ability with fundraising or program development. The Director will work with staff, oversee the administration and operation of programs and facilities, lead institute-wide research and educational programming, and establish state, national and international networks that promote fundraising and development of Institutional initiatives. Youth Programs InstructorsThe Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory seeks enthusiastic nature and science educators to teach summer day camps for K-2nd and 3rd-5th students in Gothic and the surrounding region for summer 2024. Administration and Operations AssistantThe Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory seeks an Administration and Operations Assistant. This is a full-time summer seasonal position (April-September) involved in the day-to-day functioning of many aspects of a busy field station. Candidates need to have a service-oriented perspective, a strong sense of responsibility, and the desire to be an important part of a strong and engaging team. Food Service Chef, Food Prep Assistant, Baker and DishwasherRocky Mountain Biological Laboratory seeks full and part-time food service chef, food prep assistant, baker and dishwasher. These seasonal positions run early June through early September to support meal preparation and meal service at the field station in Gothic, CO. Kitchen experience preferred. Paying $15-$22 per hour based on experience. End of season bonus, housing, and meals are possible. Facilities Crew MemberWe are seeking a Facilities Work Crew member to help operate our physical plant. Working in a team of 3 peers, the position reports to senior facilities staff. The applicant will work a full-time seasonal position (40 hrs/week May through October). This is an active, hands-on position that involves working outside in the high mountains of Colorado in three seasons. This position requires a flexible and adaptable mindset where the applicant is comfortable doing a different task from day to day. A complete description can be found here. Dining Hall General ManagerRocky Mountain Biological Laboratory (RMBL) is seeking a Dining Hall General Manager to manage the on-site operations of the RMBL Dining Hall for Summer 2024. This position is responsible for the planning, management, and smooth operation of food services for the RMBL community. Food services include preparation of three meals a day from roughly June-August for 80-120 diners and some special events. Meat and vegetarian meals are served buffet-style from a modern commercial kitchen. The Kitchen General Manager recruits, supervises, and leads a staff of 7-10 full and part-time cooks and dishwashers and works closely with the Director of Operations and other staff to ensure a professional operation.
