Please Note: Dogs are only allowed on the county road due to the many animals and plants being studied in and around the townsite.

2026 Summer Tours at the Visitor Center
Daily Townsite Tours
The Visitor Center offers Gothic townsite tours covering RMBL science and mining history daily from 11 a.m. – noon and 2 – 3 p.m.
No reservations are necessary unless you are bringing a larger group (more than 8 people). Please arrive 10 minutes before the tour starts and sign a liability waiver.
Suggested donation: $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under.
Interpretive Wildflower Hikes
2-Hour Gothic Campus Interpretive Wildflower Hike
Join a knowledgeable Rocky Mountain Biological Visitor Center staff member on a 2-hour interpretative hike for an educational look at local wildflowers learning common names, explore Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory research connections and local natural history.
This beginner/intermediate hike is through the Gothic campus starting from the Visitor Center.
June 22 – July 31

No tours on Wednesdays and Saturdays

2-Hour Snodgrass Interpretive Wildflower Hike
Join a knowledgeable Rocky Mountain Biological Visitor Center staff member on a 2-hour interpretative hike for an educational look at local wildflowers learning common names, explore Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory research connections and local natural history.
This intermediate hike will lead participants near the proposed Village at Mount Crested Butte, Crested Butte Land Trust Stewardship and United States Forest Service Land.
This out and back hike starts and ends at the Snodgrass trail head West of Gothic Road.

3-Hour Judd Falls Interpretive Wildflower Hike
Join a knowledgeable Rocky Mountain Biological Visitor Center staff member on a 3-hour interpretative hike for an educational look at local wildflowers learning common names, explore Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory research connections and local natural history.
This intermediate hike starts at the Visitor Center, goes through campus and passes by Judd Falls/401 onto Wilderness Area.

2-Hour RMBL 365 Crested Butte Interpretive Wildflower Hike
Join a knowledgeable Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory (RMBL) Visitor Center staff member on a 2-hour interpretive hike for an educational look at local wildflowers. Learn the common names of wildflowers and explore RMBL research connections and local natural history. This tour will also be touching on local geology.
This beginner out-and-back hike begins and ends at the new RMBL 365 (615 Teocalli Avenue, Crested Butte) and leads participants onto nearby trails and paths.
Limited to three Wednesdays: June 24, July 1, and July 8
