Exciting Updates for 2026 Summer Youth Programs Registration 

We’re making summer camp registration simpler and more efficient! Instead of a lottery, we are moving to a first-come, first-served system with priority registration periods for our K-9 summer programs: Children of RMBL community; past program participants, and local families get early access before spots open to the general public.

We ask families to register during the period that accurately reflects their eligibility. RMBL reserves the right to deny registrations submitted outside the appropriate period. This helps us keeps our system running smoothly. 

K-9 Registration Periods (open at 8am MST on the following start dates): 

• Feb. 1–14: RMBL Community (family members of RMBL scientists, staff, or others closely connected to RMBL) 

• Feb. 15–28: Past RMBL Youth Programs participants 

• March 1–15: Gunnison County full-time residents (children attend GWSD, Lake City Community School or are full-time homeschooled in the county) 

• March 16–Ongoing: General public 

This new approach makes it easier for everyone to secure their preferred sessions while keeping the process transparent and efficient. We can’t wait to welcome campers for a fun summer of science outside! 

Are you curious?  Do you like to find answers about the way things work in our world? Do you care about helping others?  Do you like solving problems?  If you said yes to any of these questions, you have a lot in common with people who work as scientists and engineers!

Project Eco-STEM is a program designed for students entering sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth grades in the fall of 2026.  During the first few days of the course, we will spend time meeting professionals who have chosen careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) fields, and we’ll see how their work impacts the ecosystems around us. We will have the opportunity to become research assistants for a behind the scenes look at all things field science as we witness innovations, play with technologies, and try our hands with field research and design practices. With the guidance of trained professionals, you also have the chance to work individually or in small groups to design and execute your very own RMBL research projects!

Be prepared for spending your days primarily in outdoor field settings, which may require beautiful scenic hikes to access! Along the way we’ll dive into both inquiry questions and engineering opportunities in field science settings. As part of Project Eco-STEM, we will travel to locations outside of Gothic via the RMBL passenger van.

Summer 2026 Session Dates:

Session 1 June 22nd-26th

Session 2 July 6th-10th

Program Times: Monday-Friday 8:30-4pm (transportation available from CB 4way and Mt. CB)

Program Fee: $850 + $25 non-refundable registration fee

Crested Butte, Gunnison and Lake City students– $800 per session, plus $25 non-refundable registration fee

*Limited partial scholarships are available and can be applied for when applying for program sessions*
