Director’s Letter – October 2025
Director's Letter
Dear RMBL Community,
As the seasons change and we look ahead to RMBL’s future, I am reminded of the importance of building a strong foundation that allows science, education, and community to thrive in every season.
I am thrilled to share exciting progress on the RMBL 365 Hostel acquisition. This initiative is central to our vision of supporting science, education, programming, and community engagement year-round by providing a space for students, scientists, and community members. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, we have already raised over $2.2 million. We plan to close on the CB Hostel – RMBL 365 on October 20th, and our focus remains on securing the additional resources needed to bring this transformative project fully to life. Each contribution, no matter the size, helps ensure RMBL can support science and community not just in the summer, but throughout the year.
Another exciting milestone this fall is the launch of RMBL Friends and Alumni. With our Centennial just a few years away, now is the perfect time to reconnect, celebrate our shared stories, and welcome new generations into the RMBL community. RMBL has always been more than a field station—it is a place where people discover themselves, build lifelong friendships, experience transformational change through science and education, and find meaningful ways to give back to the community. Friends and Alumni will help us honor that legacy while carrying it forward into the future.
This spirit of connection was also at the heart of the Organization of Biological Field Stations (OBFS) annual meeting, which RMBL proudly hosted in September. We welcomed 110 participants from across the world, turning Gothic into a hub of global conversation about the future of field science and education. The energy, creativity, and collaboration that emerged during those days were inspiring and underscored RMBL’s unique role—not only in our valley but in advancing science worldwide.
As we look ahead, I invite you to reflect on your own connection to RMBL. Whether as a student, scientist, supporter, or friend, your involvement is part of what makes this community so extraordinary. Together, through projects like the Hostel, initiatives like Friends and Alumni, and gatherings like OBFS, we are shaping RMBL’s next chapter—one rooted in tradition, fueled by curiosity, and looking confidently toward our Centennial and beyond.
With gratitude,
